The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

TITLE: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
SYNOPSIS: The movie opens in a hospital. An old lady is lying on a bed, and tells her daughter to read her the diary of a man she used to know named Benjamin. Benjamin Button was born under rather unsual circumstances. The day that World War I had ended, and all the soldiers came home was the day he was born. However, he wasn't born in the normal way. He was born at the age of about 80. Meaning that, when he was born, he looked like a little 80-year-old man. His father, Thomas Button, beleives him to be a monster and abandons him outside of a nursing home. As time goes on, Benjamin starts to grow younger, and he learns about love and about life. As well as learning that all people were created for a reason.

MY THOUGHTS: If you go to see this movie and expect to see an adaptation of the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, prepare to be disappointed. In fact, the only thing that this movie has in common with the short story it is based on, is the main character, Benjamin's name, and the fact that he was born old and grows younger every year. Almost the whole rest of the movie is poetic liscensing. However, this does not make it a bad movie. In fact, I'd say it's just the opposite. It was a great movie! I must say, the way they did the story, though not entirely true to the short story, was very good! I quite enjoyed it. Brad Pitt was excellent in it as the title character. The make-up they had him in when he was older (or should it be, younger?) was excellent! Cate Blanchet did very well as Daisy, a friend and later, love interest of Benjamin. Elle Fanning, younger sister of Dakota Fanning, also did well in her portrayl of Daisy when she was younger. All together, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" was an awesome movie!
MY RATING: 4 Train Whistles.
